Instead of booking a direct flight
from Manila to Bohol, we decided to book a little side trip before we went to
the conference. After a couple of minutes of discussion and planning, we ended
up into a decision that would eventually lead to this post: we booked a flight
to Cebu not only to buy us some time for side trips but to
save on airfare too — seat sales!
On the day of our flight, of course everyone is excited, but since we have different bookings due to limited seat sales per flight, we went to the airport in different times as well, since I live in the south it's only a few minute drive to reach the airport, but, thank God we left the house earlier, since an independent water supplier was laying new pipes to serve better the traffic was extremely heavy. Both of my parents dropped me off the airport with my godbrother, both of them were extra clingy before I proceeded to the boarding gates but the photos don't show it — it's my first time flying without them. My Mom even called through facetime just to remind me of the few things a Mom would remind his child before he flies.
Our flight was supposed to depart Ninoy Aquino Int'l Airport Terminal 3 at 5:50 pm and arrive at Mactan Cebu Int'l Airport by 7:10 pm, but, we got delayed and took off at 8:00. I have to admit that our
flight leaving a few hours later wasn’t all that bad, since this is the first
time I went night-flying. Before this, my latest touchdown was 5:00 in the
evening when the evening lights weren’t on yet in the city. Going back, our
flight took us an hour, and we reached our destination by 9:00 pm. I managed to
have a picture in the cockpit, as well, and it was honestly one of the best
things that could have happened during my flight – it made my dream come true –
if you’ve been sticking with me, you would know that I’ve always wanted to
become a pilot — this part never fails to have a spot in my posts, pardon me. We reached our friend’s house in Mandawe by 9:30 in the evening, and we ate
dinner in McDonalds. By 2:30 am, our companions reached my friend’s house. The
next morning, the first thing in our itinerary was to buy ferry tickets and after that we strolled around Cebu.
We didn't have much time to explore
the whole Cebu, but here are some of the tourist attractions we got to see in
this layover. We went to Magellan's Cross, Fort San Pedro, Basilica De Sto.
NiƱo, Plaza Indenpendencia. And, by 7:00 in the evening, we rode a 2hour ferry-ride to
Bohol.
My Cebu Visual Diary will be a bit late but make sure you check it.
